  • Developed a call management and contractor dispatch business servicing a group of electricity retailers and network companies
  • Negotiated and implemented the merger of two contiguous electricity companies to achieve the most effective structure for a $140m business
  • Joint venture due diligence for the successful purchase of a privately owned electricity generator/ distribution/ retailer
  • Joint venture with a North American based utility to carry out due diligence of a Council owned electricity generator/ distribution/ retailer
  • Successful merger process to form a $750m electricity network and contracting company
  • Due diligence and innovative asset management contract preparation for a Trust owned electricity network company
  • Development of the strategic structure and plan for the largest electricity retail operation in New Zealand (did not proceed due to Government reform)
  • Successful divestment of electricity retail and generation businesses to comply with Government industry reform

Utility Projects

  • Identified and implemented business process and performance measurement program for large South Australian based contracting business resulting in 8% improvement in performance
  • Supported the strategic planning process for the merging of six independent Australian distribution businesses into one reformed business
  • Developed competitive market based electricity contracting business operating throughout the lower North Island of New Zealand
  • Completed an operational review to reduce costs and improve performance of a large Queensland (AUD$100m pa turnover) contracting business
  • Facilitated investment planning and risk management review and development workshops for a British based water utility
  • Supported development of corporatisation plan for an Asian utility in conjunction with the World Bank
  • Supported the development of an electrification program in a third world country in conjunction with Asian Development Bank
Energy Projects
  • Prepared the feasibility case and negotiated supply contracts for the first large scale wind farm in New Zealand
  • Completed an energy management plan for a large New Zealand corporate
  • Reviewed energy purchasing function and rewrote energy purchasing policy for an Australian energy retailer
  • Acted as specialist energy industry advisor for the Trust owner of a New Zealand electricity network company
  • Set up and managed a co-operative wholesale energy purchasing business
